Small Moves, Big Joys—That’s the Real Gift
Merry Christmas, you filthy animals! Just kidding (kind of). Seriously though, Happy Holidays!
This time of year always hits differently, doesn’t it? It pulls you into what really matters—family, friends, and those small, perfect moments. So, as we all sit in this holiday haze of eggnog and leftover cookies, take a second to think about what makes you tick. What lights you up?
And hey, don’t let the whole New Year’s resolution thing bog you down. Forget about making some big, dramatic “new me” proclamation. Those days are over anyway, now that Ozempic is here. So eat away!
Instead, think about what actually fulfills you. What’s that one thing that brings you joy or gives you a little spark? That’s the kind of stuff to carry into the new year.
This blog talks a lot about taking massive leaps, sure, but here’s a little secret—it’s not always about that. Sometimes it’s just about the small moves that shake up your day-to-day and remind you why life is worth the hustle.
Here’s a quick story. Years ago, I picked up The 4-Hour Workweek—you’ve heard me mention it before. That book lit a fire under my ass, sent me leaping into new ventures, and changed my whole trajectory. Naturally, I’ve handed it out to anyone who’d listen, hoping it’d inspire them too.
Most of the time? Nothing. Crickets. People love to read about action but rarely take any. But occasionally, someone surprises me.
Like my buddy—he was the classic “too busy to travel” guy. Work was always the excuse. After flipping through that book, something clicked. He didn’t quit his job or move across the world. Instead, he did something small but meaningful.
His friends were heading to the islands, and of course he gave them the ole “can’t make it” months prior, but this time he said screw it. He ended up showing up in the islands a day earlier, rented a Jeep, filled a cooler with beer, and was there waiting for them at the airport when they arrived, grinning. Knowing him he was probably holding a sign with their names written on the back of a Coors Light box too.
It wasn’t some massive, life-altering move, but it was enough. Enough to get him out of his routine. Enough to feel alive. And honestly, isn’t that the point?
So this Holiday season, I’m asking you to think about what gives you that little spark. It doesn’t have to be huge. Just something that makes you smile, makes you feel more like yourself. Maybe it’s a small step out of your comfort zone or just leaning into what already makes you happy.
So Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and here’s to making moves—big or small—that bring you joy.
Cheers to that! 🎄🍻
